Ahoy Senor stepped up markedly on his Ayr victory to win his first Grade One race, the Doon Bar Sefton Hurdle at Aintree. Given a positive ride, and emulating his Ayr run he made all and as Derek asked him to gallop away from the last he stayed on strongly to the delight of his owners Carron and Bruce Wymer and Peter Russell.
While this was Derek's first Grade One he had the confidence in our relentless galloper to make the running and although he surprised many, his regular work rider, Cameron was bullish about his chances last week.
Ahoy Senior has an entry at Punchestown in the Irish Mirror Novice Hurdle and we will see how he is over the next week or so before deciding if he should travel over to Ireland.
Ain't My Fault showed a good attitude in the Red Rum Chase, staying on to be seventh; he ran with great credit and should be competitive next time.
